Losing Hair on Ozempic-Style Drugs? Evidence Is Mixed and Limited

A recent discussion has asked whether GLP-1 drugs — like Ozempic and Wegovy — cause hair loss. The short answer is: we don’t have a clear, proven link. Some people taking these medications have reported losing hair, but the evidence so far is mostly anecdotal (personal stories) and not enough to conclude that the drugs directly cause hair loss. GLP-1 drugs are medicines that copy a natural hormone in your gut called GLP-1. That hormone helps control blood sugar and tells your brain you feel full, which is why these drugs are used for diabetes and weight loss. They aren’t steroids or cancer treatments; they act on specific targets in your body (receptors) to change appetite and digestion. The term “GLP-1” just names that hormone and the medicines that mimic it. What existing reports show is mixed.
