Experimental Pill Reduces Weight in Adults with Overweight or Obesity (Phase 2)

A new clinical trial tested a pill called elecoglipron to see if it helps adults with obesity or who are overweight lose weight. The study was done at multiple centers, people were randomly assigned to get either the pill or a placebo (a dummy pill), and neither the participants nor the researchers knew who got which until the end. This was a phase 2 trial, which means it’s an early-stage human test focused on safety and whether the drug shows signs of working. Elecoglipron is described as an oral small-molecule GLP-1 receptor agonist.
