GLP-1s are a class of drugs that started as diabetes treatments and became famous for weight loss. The name stands for glucagon-like peptide-1, which is a natural chemical in your gut that helps control blood sugar and tells your brain you’re full. They act on receptors (think of them as molecular doorbells) in various parts of the body, including the gut and brain, to slow stomach emptying and reduce appetite.
