Retail giants like Walmart, Costco and Amazon are positioning themselves to be major distributors of these medicines and the related services. The news is about business and access: where people buy these drugs is shifting from traditional doctor’s offices and specialty clinics to big-box stores and digital platforms. GLP-1s are medicines that act like a natural gut hormone called glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1). That hormone helps control appetite and blood sugar. They were developed for diabetes and later found to help with weight loss.
