It’s a “peptide” — a short chain of amino acids — designed to mimic natural gut hormones that help control blood sugar and appetite. It activates receptors that slow stomach emptying, reduce hunger, and change how the gut and brain handle food. Those actions also commonly cause gastrointestinal effects like nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, especially when someone is starting the drug or increasing the dose. What this post shows is an anecdote — one person’s experience — not a controlled study. We know from clinical trials and safety reports that nausea, vomiting and diarrhea are well-documented side effects of tirzepatide and similar drugs like semaglutide (Ozempic/Wegovy).
