The announcement is a company update, not a peer-reviewed paper, so the details are limited in the short news snippet. TT-P34 is described as a peptide, which simply means it’s a small chain of amino acids — like a tiny piece of a protein. Peptides can act in the body by sticking to specific targets and changing how cells behave. Teitur calls this compound “first-in-class,” which suggests it works in a new way compared with existing Parkinson’s drugs. The exact biological target or how TT-P34 affects brain cells wasn’t spelled out in the brief report I saw. Phase I trials are usually small and focused on safety, often involving healthy volunteers or a small number of patients.
