Should you use a post-subcision peptide? Early questions, limited evidence

A person who just had a subcision (a minor dermatology procedure to release tight, “tethered” acne scars) asked whether starting a product called KLOW the day after would help healing, or whether it’s better to let the skin recover without the peptide. The post is a question, not a study — someone asking for advice about combining a new supplement with a recent procedure. KLOW is a branded peptide product sold online. “Peptide” just means a short chain of amino acids — basically tiny pieces of protein. Some peptides are used in skincare or supplements because they can signal cells to do things like make more collagen (the structural protein in skin) or reduce inflammation. But over-the-counter peptide products vary a lot in what’s actually in them, how much of the active ingredient they contain, and whether they are shown to work in real people. There isn’t a controlled study behind this post — it’s an individual asking about their own recovery. Clinical evidence for many topical or oral peptide supplements is limited. For real procedures like subcision, the standard recovery process involves inflammation, bruising, and gradual collagen remodeling over weeks to months. If KLOW is being taken orally or applied topically, absorption and reaching the treated area matter a lot. Why this matters: people who get cosmetic procedures want the best and quickest healing with minimal complications and better final scar appearance. If a peptide could safely reduce swelling, speed repair, or improve collagen remodeling, that would be useful. But because evidence is thin, the realistic expectation is uncertain — you might get a small benefit, no effect, or a side effect. For someone who values minimizing risks after a procedure, it’s worth discussing any new supplement with the dermatologist who did the subcision before starting it. Caveats and risks are important. Supplements and topical peptides are not tightly regulated, so product quality can vary. Starting something new right after a skin procedure could increase the chance of irritation, allergic reactions, infection, or interfere with normal healing. Some peptides or accompanying ingredients could thin skin or affect blood clotting in ways that matter after a procedure. Also, if you’re using prescription topical treatments or taking blood thinners, interactions are possible. The safe route is to check with your treating clinician and, if they approve, start the product once the initial wound has begun to close and inflammation is reduced. Bottom line: there’s no strong public evidence that starting KLOW the day after subcision will clearly help, and there are plausible risks, so ask your dermatologist before using it and follow their post-procedure guidance.
